You have a passion for outdoor summer activities and want to boost their safety?
Tackle one of the three challenges and win a prize of up to CHF 25 000.- in support and financial aid to successfully accelerate the implementation of your solution!
WHY?
The canton of Valais, in Switzerland, is an attractive playground for summer outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, e-biking and trail running activities. However, poor preparation can easily turn into a tragedy and the risks of accidents are numerous.
The S.M.A.R.T. Challenge seeks to identify and support innovative solutions that focus on improving accident prevention, preparing outdoor enthusiasts, and facilitating a safe practice of outdoor summer activities.
Our strength lies in bringing together a diverse range of experts in outdoor sports, accident prevention, mountain medicine, tourism, rescue operations, and innovation to support your project and accelerate the implementation of your solution.

3 challenges to tackle!
To be eligible, submitted solutions must apply to outdoor summer activities and improve prevention, preparation, or accompany the practice to make it safer. Find below some ideation tips:
I'm aware
(Prevention)
Contribute to improving accident prevention by reaching out and informing participants in an effective and personalized way.
I go
(Access & practice)
To facilitate the practice of outdoor activities in complete autonomy and safety.
Selection criteria
- Relevance and fit to the challenges formulated
- Innovative or creative character
- Technical feasibility and speed of implementation
- Dissemination potential and impact of the solution (societal, economic and/or environmental benefits)
- Adequacy with the proposed support, motivation of the candidate to collaborate with the S.M.A.R.T. Challenge partners.
How can i participate?
This Challenge is open to any person, team, start-up, company, research institute, association or industrial group willing to submit, challenge, develop, test and validate an innovative solution.

#2 BASECAMP DAY
Pre-selection
A jury selects the most relevant solutions according to selection criteria. Nominees are invited to participate to the BaseCamp Day (around 5 nominees)
May 25thBaseCamp Day
Nominees present their solutions to a group of experts during a one-day evaluation and mentoring face-to-face sessions.
A rich programme of specific animations and networking moments will enrich this day.
#3 EXPLORATION PROGRAM
Challenge awarding
Experts deliberate and award 1 to 3 teams to participate in the Exploration Program and win a price up to 25k per solution (10k in cash, up to 15k in coaching)
End of JuneExploration Program
Award winners are granted support according to their needs (~ 6 months) with :
> Financial aid to develop their solution
> Privileged access to experts and users for co-development, validation and field testing
> Support to boost the commercial development of the solution through coaching by CimArk
In SeptemberSelection #1
5 teams will be selected by a jury of experts to participate to the BaseCamp Day
May 25thBaseCamp Day
Evaluation and mentoring day by specialists from the medical field, prevention, first aid, sport, tourism, innovation and new technologies.
A rich programme of events with targeted presentations on outdoor activities, prevention, regional ecosystems and funding opportunities.
June 13thSelection #2
1-3 teams will rewarded and invited to participate to the Exploration Program and win a price up to 25k per solution (10k in cash, 15k in coaching)
